Types of wind_各种各样的“风”

1. breeze  [bri:z] n. a light wind

    微风

2. gust  [ɡ ʌst] n. a sudden strong wind

    阵风；（感情）迸发

3. easterly [ˈistəli]  n. a wind that blows from the east

    东风，这个词也是形容词或副词adj.& adv. 往东；（风）从东吹来的（地）

    相应地，西风就是westerly['westəlɪ]， 南风是southerly ['sʌðəlɪ]，北风是northerly  [ˈnɔ:ðəli:]

4. hurricane[ˈhɚrɪˌken] n. a violent storm with extremely strong winds and heavy rain

     飓风；飓风般猛烈的东西；（感情等的）爆发

5. prevailing wind [prɪˈvelɪŋ wɪnd]  n. a wind that blows in a particular area at a particular time of year

盛行风；恒风

6. sandstorm [ˈsændstɔ:m]  n. a strong wind in the desert that blows clouds of sand in the air

    沙暴；沙尘暴

7. strong  winds 也常被称为high winds

    强风；大风

8. tornado  [tɔrˈnedo] n. a very strong wind that goes quickly round in a circle or funnel

    龙卷风； 具有巨大破坏性的人（或事物）

9. typhoon [taɪˈfun]n. a tropical storm with strong winds that move in circles
